The time I fucked up something for a client

Hey gorgeous,

Yes, shit happens. We’re just human, right?

We may be (recovering)perfectionists, but we still make mistakes.

When I read the email from my client that something wasn’t going the way it was supposed to go, I felt a heat moving to my face.

My first instinct was to come up with an excuse that made it not my fault.

But what’s the point of that? I made that mistake.

So, what did I do…

It was the first time I created a challenge for her. I set up a webinar series in a webinar tool.

You can also integrate your email marketing system with it, so I did that for her.

People who subscribed to the challenge were automatically subscribed to the webinar series. That triggered an integration to add a tag to that person in my client’s email marketing system.

The last two days of the challenge were her sales webinars. So she wanted the people who watched it to have a separate tag.

That tag was connected to an automation with sales emails.

I put that tag in the 4th and 5th webinar. Not knowing that when you set up a tag for a webinar series, it applies to all webinars.

So, all the viewers of the first webinar got the sales sequence already before my client even talked about her program…

Yeah, not my finest hour. But something you would never ever forget again.

Now, I have something in my calendar to remind me to put the tag in the series on the morning of the 4th webinar.

These are things you can learn in the WolfPack. I bring all my experience with me to this membership so you can learn. But also to cheer you on when something goes wrong.

Because it’s not the end of the world and most things can be fixed with an apology.

Love,

Marit

Hey gorgeous, Yeah, you read that right. I lost my biggest client. I know exactly where I was at that moment. I was behind my desk. Now, I’m sitting with my back to the wall, but back then I was facing that same wall. She called me. I don’t know if she asked via email if she could call me or if she just called me. She didn’t want to do it via email, which I very much appreciate, but when someone says they don’t want to work with you anymore, your brain kicks into overdrive. It wasn’t that I...

Hey gorgeous, I started my journey as a VA offering admin services. It’s what I have done my whole working life. I even sold cars. I didn’t know anything about cars. My only demand for my car was that it brought me to where I wanted to go. And for some reason, all my cars were black. Even the car I share with my parents right now is black. But I worked in the back office of a company that sold cars. One of the perks was that I could travel to Bordeaux, France, for work. I never had that...

Hey gorgeous, Do you know how many potential clients you have in your own network? I know networking sounds like having to wait for a whole year after the book in your new favorite book series ends on a cliffhanger. I’m not talking about going to network events because that’s also something I’ve never done before. One of the first things I did to look for clients as a beginning VA was emailing my own network. Because there are so many people already in your network. Maybe your hairdresser is...
