Here I was, sweating my ass off

Hey gorgeous,

It was one of the hot summers we've had in the last 5 years in the Netherlands. Beau, the 32-year-old horse from my best friend, was still alive and needed her hooves done. My friend had to work, yes, she’s still in a 9-5, and she asked me to be there.

As a virtual assistant, I have the power to schedule my day, so I rearranged my schedule and could help out. It’s something I love to do for her because she lets me ride her horse every Saturday, at least now. Back then, we walked through the village with Beau, Ivy, and Bell, her 2 smaller ponies. It was always a sight to see us walking with these cuties.

Anyway, that day was hot. So I went on my bike to the stables in a tank top, shorts, and flip-flops. Not my normal attire.

Beau had a hard time standing on 3 legs. She was a bit wobbly at her old age. So, when the farrier started working on her back leg, I had to stand on the opposite side so she could lean on me.

That was a good part of her 1300 pounds that I had to catch so she wouldn’t fall over. Sweat was dripping down my face and back. All the while talking to the farrier about the country he was from, France.

I still remember it so vividly. It was hard to do, but I did it with love. I could help Beau not fall, and I could help my friend because she couldn’t take off from work.

This is one of the things I absolutely love about being my own boss. I started as a virtual assistant and now I also coach/mentor other VAs, and it’s the best. I have the freedom to schedule my own day.

When I don’t have a coaching call with one of my wolves or a call with one of my VA clients– they hardly ever happen– I can rearrange my schedule to do this sort of thing.

I have a couple of ways you can work with me if you’re interested.

If you’re not yet a VA but this scheduling your own days sounds like what you want, I would recommend joining the Couch Potato Clarity, a diy virtual assistant course that will give you the confidence to start accepting clients.

If you’re already a VA and you need a supportive space (and a little push) to actually land clients—while learning high-value skills that bring in more money, then I would recommend The WolfPack Membership.

I also have a 4-week 1:1 virtual assistant mentorship program, Big Sis Calls, to tackle specific problems you might have as a VA.

I would love to support you in any way I can on your VA journey.

Love,
Marit

Hey Reader, When I just started my business in 2017, I thought I needed sooooo many clients to make enough money. I saw myself working 40 hours plus a week. That would have been the case if I had kept working as a general VA who only did projects. The moment I decided to pivot my business to being a tech & ops specialist was the moment I started signing clients who wanted to work with me month after month and wanted to pay good money for it. As a tech & ops specialist, you definitely can work...

Hey Reader, When I just started out as a VA, I thought I needed to work 40 hours a week. Because I thought that was the only way to make a full-time income. I spent all my time searching for clients, and if I wasn’t doing that, I felt guilty. I was making no money at all until I signed my first client. But she only needed me for a project, so while I worked on her online course, I also had to look for new clients. Maybe you know this feeling: you’re so happy you’ve found a client, but after...
